Summer Concert Series Celebrates The Fab Four with “Beatles Forever” on August 11

Beatles Forever! That’s the name of the program that author and Wayne State professor M.L. Liebler will be hosting at the Ferndale Area District Library on Aug. 11 at 6:30 pm. Liebler will read his short story about growing up with the Beatles, interweaving his prose with live renditions of classic Beatles tunes performed by nationally known Detroit area musicians. It’s an all-ages sing along for the whole family!

Local art fans will certainly know Liebler for his decades of contributions to Detroit’s counterculture by way of poetry and music, a jazz and rock-n-roll inspired literary auteur continuing to carry the torch of the Beat generation. Images of the Beatles will be projected on screen as Liebler shares intimate glimpses of his youth and how the Beatles lit that integral creative spark for him. Joining Liebler at the Ferndale Library are a handful of renowned local musicians, including lead guitar and vocals from singer/songwriter Eddie Baranek (famed for fronting the garage-rock outfit The Sights as well as a contemporary group called The Scrappers).

“Beatles Forever” was organized last year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved British rock group’s arrival in America (by way of an iconic performance on the Ed Sullivan show). There were only a handful of engagements in 2014 and local audiences have not been able to catch any encores of “Beatles Forever”…until NOW! The Ferndale Library’s annual Summer Concert Series (now in its fifth year) is happy to have Liebler and Baranek bring back their Beatles show and excited to share (and sing) these songs with the community.

All ages are welcome, no registration is required. Music will begin shortly after 6:30 pm. For more information:
