MeL (Michigan Electronic Library) – Books & Authors
Looking for your next great read?
There’s a new feature in the MeL database called Books & Authors that’s both fun and informative for anyone yearning to find their new favorite book.
WHO WHAT WHERE WHEN will let you browse for books by selecting any 3 from choices under Character, Subject, Location, and Time Period.
Type or choose from a drop down menu and watch as the database responds with a visual representation of your search terms.
So that’s a cool, streamlined method of searching for hundreds of characters (WHO), activities or subjects (WHAT), locations or destinations (WHERE), and Time Periods (WHEN), all combined to reveal titles that fit the selected criteria.
Combining Alternative Worlds (WHAT), with Michigan (WHERE), and 21st Century AD (WHEN), I find there is a title that matches all 3 criteria! (who would have guessed!) A bonus to this useful search is that the results link to MeLCat so staff and patrons can check availability of their newly discovered treasures. Michigan residents or Michigan library access only.
