This is your chance to show your Library some wholesome love. It’ll be a bit of a rough summer for your library and we could really use your support, more than ever.
Ferndale Library Raises Funds the Old-Fashioned Way
June 27 and 28
The Ferndale Public Library is actively pursuing ways to raise more funds in the wake of recently announced budget cuts to staff and hours. (For more information, read: Here’s The Thing: Future Of The Ferndale Library)
“One of our most successful fundraisers is our Fall Bake Sale,” says Kelly Bennett, Head of Circulation, who organizes the annual community swap of sweets. “So, when we were brainstorming new ways to raise money, I first thought: ‘Why not have a second bake sale?’”
Library Director Jessica Keyser says that this is a great opportunity for people to contribute to the library.
“Many people have been approaching us at the library and asking how they can help. Many folks are not in the position to make a cash contribution, but they want to do something.”
“Donating baked goods is a great way to contribute. Buying items at the sale helps, too.”
The Summer Bake Sale will take place in the Library on Fri. Jun. 27 and Sat. Jun. 28.
Volunteer bakers are needed!!
“The more the merrier,” says Bennett. “We’re looking for a wide variety of treats that can be split up into small packages for easy sale.:
Also, we more than welcome Vegan, gluten-free and diabetic options!
Volunteers can drop off their treats at the Circulation Desk beginning Thu. Jun 26, FPL Staff will be present in the library atrium at 9 am Fri. morning to accept donations on that first morning of the sale.
We’ll have a range of yummy treats, cookies, cupcakes, muffins, you name it – all whipped up from the home ovens of Ferndale’s talented bakers. The bake sale will run 10 am to 6 pm on both Fri. and Sat. Cash and checks will be accepted as payment.
