What’s Your Favorite Book This Year? (…so far?)

Last week, Publisher’s Weekly posted the:

The Bestselling Books of 2012 (So Far)

Fifty Shades and Hunger Games dominate Nielsen BookScan list & the Amazon Kindle list, no big surprise.

But what’s been YOUR Favorite reading experience in 2012, so far? And why? Do you have a Top 5 yet?

Need a reminder? Check out GoodReads’ lists.

Mine, personally, off the top of my head: Love Goes to Buildings on Fire: Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever -by Will Hermes

Love Goes to Buildings on Fire: Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever“Punk rock and hip-hop. Disco and salsa. The loft jazz scene and the downtown composers known as Minimalists. In the mid-1970s, New York City was a laboratory where all the major styles of modern music were reinvented—all at once, from one block to the next, by musicians who knew, admired, and borrowed from one another. Crime was everywhere, the government was broke, and the city’s infrastructure was collapsing. But rent was cheap, and the possibilities for musical exploration were limitless.”

I found this to be an inspiring read and highly relatable considering metro Detroit’s comparably verdant/creative/active contemporary local music scene. Technically it came out in November 2011–but that’s still within the last calendar year.

Anyways… Whatchya’ readin’?
