Fresh Air Remembers Author Maurice Sendak

As I type this, Youth Librarian Jillean McCommons is conducting Children’s Morning Story-Hour  down the hall in the Kids Corner. I can hear a little one crying his eyes out, echoing softly down towards the circulation desk. I’m sure he’s just cranky because he’s missed his nap or maybe he bumped his head on a shelf… but his wail, pure and pained, perfectly captures the wind-stealing thud this news delivers to my inner-child.
