Join us, won’t you?, on Saturday, from 1pm to 3pm, to celebrate and commemorate Ferndale Public Library’s Head of Circulation, Pat Lind, who retires at the end of this month after 23 years.
Pat’s the heart and soul of this place. She’s the reason I started working here 15 years ago as a scrappy, wide-eyed Freshman looking for an after-school job.
I can’t even imagine how many of us, of you, out there, throughout Ferndale (this town that she loves so dearly) received our own very first library card’s from this woman, personally. Pat also worked as a teacher for many years, over in Chicago through the 70’s and 80’s and it gave her a natural sensibility for leadership, understanding, and a nuanced blend of tenderness and resolve.
It’ll be a kind of torch-passing weekend, here at the Library. – So, come say hello to Pat, I’m sure she’d be more than happy to share her favorite stories with you… …over refreshments (which will include cake).
A special ceremony with Jim O’Donnell (from our Board of Trustees) and Kelly Bennett (our new Circulation Director) will be held at 1:30 pm.
