While we’re considering our younger readers… click this link– in case you missed the Detroit Free Press, last weekend, when they ran a nice feature “Appealing new titles for ages 5 and up…” (Including a book by Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar – ‘What Color Is My World? The Lost History of African-American Inventors’ – and s To the mountaintop : my journey through the civil rights movement by activist and acclaimed journalist Charlaine Hunter-Gault, who was one of two black students to desegregate the University of George in the early 1960’s.

NPR’S Book site has this nifty/insightful/endearing section called the “Backseat Book Club” – and at the end of last year, they ranked: Top 5 Books For Backseat Readers (Age 9 And Up) …with, happily, 5-honorable mentions.
