Local Music in the Library – First Stop Friday – Sept 9

First Stop Fridays continue –…even though this is September’s “second” Friday – we figured most of the music-heads would be up in Royal Oak, anyhow, for that weekend’s Arts Beats & Eats extravaganz-zaniness.

This is, sort-of, the “one year anniversary” of Kelly’s local music series. First Stop Friday’s debuted the first week of September 2010, with local indie-rock trio Pewter Cub and ambient acid jazz deconstructionist orchestra Forget.

Of course, the library suffered a flood that put the series on hold (…no one wants to plug in amps near soggy carpeting), which  means we missed December through April. Ah well… no use crying over spilt rainwater.

This week (Sept 9) features the darkly beautiful neo-Americana quintet Blueflowers and the psyche-fuzzed garage pop of Woodman. (Leader of Woodman, seen right, in a rather candid but inspiring freak-out moment) – (Doors open @ 6:30 pm)

The Blueflowers – “In Your Shadow”

Woodman – “Dead Leaves & The Dirty Ground” (White Stripes cover)
