from Michigan.gov:

The MichiCard project is a voluntary program extended to Michigan public libraries beginning in 1990. In 1994, academic libraries were added to the program. In 2000, all other types of libraries were invited to participate in creating a state-wide library card.

Basically, this humble sticker, added to your library card, will grant you access to print collections of participating libraries (a list of those libraries through counties like Macomb and Wayne, is available at the FPL Circulation Desk.)

A list of Frequently Asked Questions concerning the use and privilege of the Michicard system is available at Michigan.gov
