The Ferndale Public Library is going to be the place to go for free concerts this summer. We’ll be hosting three outdoor concerts tied to this year’s Summer Reading extravaganza. Swing by our Community Room every-other-Monday for a free show!
The Bridge Project, a 16-piece jazz band playing original arrangements and compositions of contemporary Michigan-based jazz composers will open up the series with a performance on Monday, July 11th, at 6:30 pm.
July 25th – Jeffery Zook, flute (Detroit Symphony, Oakland University) and Bret Hoag, guitar (Oakland University) will treat listeners to an evening of music for flute and guitar.
August 8th – The Candy Band, which is four Detroit moms playing punk rock for kids, performs a free show (6:30-7:30pm).
This series was initially envisioned by our Circulation Director Patricia Lind and soon organized and realized by Circulation Specialist and library-musical-magpie Kelly Bennett.
The library’s First Stop Friday series will also continue throughout the summer, with the next show on July 8th, featuring Sisters of Your Sunshine Vapor and Phantom Cats.
The Summer Reading program is designed to get people of all ages, (birth to 99) to read and enjoy their library. For a full schedule of events for children, teens and adults please see the library’s calendar at http://ferndalepubliclibrary.org or visit their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/FerndalePublicLibrary
