Read all about it on the Patch: Kate Pohjola Selected As Ferndale Public Library Director – The Ferndale Public Library and Board of Trustees is excited to announce that Kate Pohjola (currently Branch Director for Lapeer County Library) has verbally accepted an offer to become the new Director of the Ferndale Public Library.
Patch Editor Terry Parris‘ story quotes Board President John Sterritt: “She showed strong leadership, a passion for public libraries and the ability to work with virtually anyone.”
After former Director Doug Raber accepted a job in Iowa that ended his relatively short time here, our Board has expressed strong interest in finding a “long-term” director. Pohjola (center, in b/w shirt+glasses), for her part, exudes great enthusiasm for our community and library, and has said, in many ways, that she is considerably happy and, having grown up nearby (Berkley), considers this a home-coming of sorts.
She will likely start in early August. Come on in, then, and meet her!
